Stand Together Stand Easy is a registered community interest company (CIC) facilitating creative, social, arts, health and wellbeing projects for the Forces community.
Being a CIC we have to demonstrate how we are benefiting others and have an asset lock on our finances, meaning if we make a surplus, we choose to use this to fund further projects, training or activities for free or at a subsidised cost for the good of others.

We bring together Forces-connected people - individuals and groups - mixed across role, rank, age, gender, race, class, sexuality, ability, and the sectors of Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force. United at annual commemorative events, such as Armed Forces Day and Remembrance Services, Forces-connected people can otherwise tend to remain fairly separate, on their own or in specific groups. Given the widely reported increasing prevalence and blight of isolation and loneliness in society, it is more important than ever to feel related to others and the broader community.
Art supports people to get creative in their communities, improve their sense of wellbeing and place in the world. Aside from the Forces photographers or 'phots' as they are known, there are few art-related positions to hold, no cadet badges to work to, and sparse opportunities for veterans. In the Forces community, you must think on your feet, address complex challenges, deal with fast-moving situations and innovate ready solutions. Building on this creativity, we open-up new means for people to explore ideas, stories and images, make and exhibit artworks.
We work intergenerationally and across positions, mixing military family children, youth cadets, working age personnel and their partners, reservists, adult cadet volunteers and veterans to create artworks. We encourage individual expression, group collaboration, the strengthening of social ties and public relations.
Our staff and volunteers are Forces-linked individuals, or where there are niche skills required, employees will have experience of working in military charities or similar. Partnering with ex-Forces recruiters, we support people in the widely acknowledged challenges of transitioning to civilian life or living as a military family.
Upholding the Armed Forces Covenant’s promise of mutual understanding and inclusion between the Force’s community and the Nations, we provide a bridge to the general public through dissemination and showcasing of artwork, enhancing society’s awareness and understanding of Forces community life and contributions.
We aim to inspire the young people who will become the next generation in service and the adult cadet volunteers who give of their time to develop them, honour those who are serving or have served, full or part-time and the families who support them to do so.
Our team consists of highly motivated people, experts in their field and all of whom are passionate about supporting the Forces community.
An occupational therapist by trade for 27 years in NHS, not-for-profit, charity and education sectors, with clinical specialisms in dementia, mental health, supporting family carers, and the arts & health.
Highly experienced in national and local leadership, including Rehab Service Management for veterans charities, establishing community interest companies and large-scale creative ventures.
I volunteer for a Sea & Marine Cadet Unit, mainly driving as I am over 'that age' where a license automatically includes minibuses.
I grew up with a Dad who had served in the Royal Navy and the Territorial Army. At the age of 17 I was ready for my own adventures in the Royal Navy, where I met my husband.
With strong roots in the military family, I was very excited when Jacqueline proposed the idea of Stand Together Stand Easy. I know how isolating it can feel once you leave the military and the projects that Stand Together Stand Easy offer are a great way of bringing the military community together with a fun purpose.
I have worked for the charity Blind Veterans UK for 6 years and during this time I have formed a strong bond with the military veterans that are members here.
I have extensive knowledge of compliance, risk management and health and safety within the charity sector and am looking forward to ensuring Stand Together Stand Easy is the safest place it can be for our Forces community.
Following 22 years in the Royal Air Force as a Fitness and Adventure Trainer, then a Training & Development Manager, I have continued working in the field of learning and development.
Highly experienced in corporate, statutory and charity sectors, I am currently Head of Learning & Apprenticeships and a Senior HR Business Partner for an NHS Trust.
A highly experienced group and events facilitator, across a range of creative arts, I have been in Activities Co-ordinator roles for 11 years, most recently with the charity Blind Veterans UK.
I relish the joy found in creative writing, it is such an excellent therapeutic tool for all, and endeavour to encourage everyone's inner writer, which many don't realise is just waiting to come out.
I also work as a specialist mental health support worker and am halfway through a BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy degree.
As a former Naval Officer I was immediately drawn to the title of the project; having spent over six years in the Royal Navy, serving at sea as a Warfare Officer. My dad was in the RAF and my husband in is in Navy, so I have a strong interest in the experiences and stories of people connected with the armed forces.
Passionate about art and storytelling, I developed my creative practice within textiles and stitch. I am keen to share these skills and engage people with art to tell their own stories.
